If it was your business
- Use Instagram's login help with the old email or phone.
- Once in, change or release the handle.
- Set it on your new account straight away.
If it was someone else's
- Company registers list former directors in many countries.
- A polite message asking for a release is fair.
- Do not pay strangers who say they can get it.
Report routes
A closed business account is not a report reason. A route fits only if the account now poses as you or uses your registered mark.
