How a handle
claim works.

You send a handle, we find the official route that fits it, you agree the price, and we submit. Instagram decides.

Last updated

A claim has four stages: intake, route check, agreement, submission. You can stop after any of the first three at no cost.

Intake

Send the @handle you want and the profile it should go on. Add why the name matters to you.

Route check

We look at the handle from outside and match it against the platform’s reporting and support routes.

Agreement

You get a straight answer on whether it looks workable, and a price in writing.

Submission

We submit through the official route, keep you posted and tell you what comes back.

THE ROUTE CHECK

Matching a handle
to a route.

This is where most of the expertise sits. Instagram has no single claim form, so the first job is deciding which of its processes the situation actually fits. TikTok and Snapchat work the same way, with routes of their own.

Impersonation

Someone is using your name or likeness to pass as you. Instagram has a dedicated form and it needs proof of who you are.

Intellectual property

The handle matches a registered mark you own or represent. Instagram routes these through its IP report. TikTok and Snapchat have trademark reports.

Policy violations

The account breaks the Community Standards. That is a report anyone can file, though it does not put the handle in your hands.

Route
The specific Instagram process a claim runs through. Choosing the wrong one is the most common reason a claim goes nowhere.

What happens
to your account.

  • Password. Stays with you. We never ask for it.
  • Followers and posts. Unchanged. The handle is changed on your existing profile.
  • Handle transfer. If Instagram frees the handle, you set it yourself in Settings.
  • Contact. WhatsApp or email only.
