The 180 day rule

TikTok says an account that has not been used to access TikTok for 180 days or more may have its username reset to a randomized numeric username.

Nobody else can see it

TikTok says whether an account is inactive is not publicly visible. A profile with no recent posts may still be in use.

Reassigning is the exception

TikTok says that in most instances it cannot reassign a username.

Routes that fit real facts

An impersonation report fits an account posing as you. A trademark report fits a registered mark and needs a registration certificate. See the TikTok claim page.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can I report a TikTok account because it looks inactive?

TikTok does not publish a report for that. Inactivity is not visible to other people.

If the handle is reset, can I take it?

A reset does not give it to a person who asks. TikTok suggests variations such as numbers, underscores or abbreviations.

Which routes do exist?

An impersonation report, or a trademark report from the owner or an authorised representative.
