What memorialization means
Instagram lets friends and family ask for a profile to be memorialized after a death. The profile stays visible and the handle stays on it.
What that means for you
- The handle is not free to take.
- Impersonation and trademark routes do not apply to a profile that is simply a memorial.
- Be respectful: a request that targets a memorial profile is unlikely to be appropriate.
