The route fits profiles that pose as someone
Instagram’s impersonation form is for accounts that pretend to be another person or business. Look for the same photo, the same name and wording that implies the profile is official.
It does not fit a coincidence
Many people share a name. A profile that uses a common name for its own content is not impersonation, even when you want the handle.
Proof should link the profile to you
- A link to your real profile or site
- Evidence of copied photos or text
- Documents that show who you are, where the form asks for them
A report addresses the profile, not the handle
If Instagram acts, the impersonating profile may be removed. You would then check whether the handle is free or ask again through another route.
Do not file a false report
A claim built on a made-up story can harm your account and is against the rules. If the facts are not there, pick an alternative.
